Does anyone know: does the race start at the south end or the north end of the bridge? I have a hotel room in Tavernier that weekend, and I want to run the race (without a bib), and I'm just wondering how hard it is to get to the start, find a parking spot, and then get back there after the race is over. Info? I'll come hang out with the camping hashers too, but then I will go sleep in air-conditioned bliss.

The race starts on Knight's Key (Mile Marker 47) on the east or Marathon side of the bridge, and ends on Little Duck Key (MM 40) on the west side of the bridge. Tavernier is at Mile Marker 91. It's usually a slow drive down the Keys so you should give yourself at least an hour.

Everyone parks in the Knight's Key Campground. There's plenty of room but it's a really slow process and traffic backs up well before the bridge. I'd give more than a hour from Tavenier. We stay less than 2 miles from the bridge and still ride our bikes to the race in order to avoid the mess.
Hopefully you'll be able to join us for our annual hash "events" that weekend.
Lunch/Rum Runners/Beer Friday at Lorelei at mile 82 in Islamorada.
Sunset/beer/coctails Friday at the Black Fin in Marathon.
Hash Saturday late afternoon/evening in Marathon.

I got a hotel room a little bit closer. It's on Islamorada. So, if the drive to the start is slow, and the parking is slow... would it be crazy to just hitchhike to the start, since everyone will be going there anyway?

More questions... sorry. SO- if there is a bus that brings runners back to the other side of the bridge, what if you are a runner without a number? I got my registration in the mail today (forwarded from VT), so its probably too late anyway, but I am trying to decide if I should pay and send it in. I don't see why I would if I can just run it for free though... right?

You'll never get in now. Way too late.
I don't think the buses check for valid runners. You should be fine to "bandit". Years ago they were strict at the starting line but not lately.

Okay, well I will save the $45 then. And I guess if the bus won't take me back, I'll be running 14 miles instead of 7. See y'all there!

The buses do not check for race numbers. I've taken the bus back twice.

Hey...what happened to the hash trail for Saturday? I showed up at the appropriate spot, maybe a little late as per my usual M O, but no cars, no marks, no hashers, no walkers, NO BEER!!
But then I walked back to the official "7 Mile Bridge Campout Weekend" Camp site...and it was no longer a Campout, just OUT!...Ouch

PRICK,
YOU weren't the only one - on our way to Key West about that time we got a call from a couple of Key West hashers who came all the way from Key West to Marathon for the hash and no one was there. Turns out it was CANCELED ! duh oh !

Do we have any pictures from the 7 mile bridge weekend? Please post the links here if you do. I was in an altered state most of the weekend but I seem to remember a camera or 2.
