South Florida H3 Python Hunt Saturday, March 23, 2013 Time: 3:00pm Social – 3:45pm Pack away! Price: $5.00. . .Cheap! Hares: Coming or Going? and Stop the Bus Location: 15951 Bird Road, Miami, FL (that's a made-up address, but it'll get you there)
Get ready to plunge into the dense and spooky thickets of the Everglades in search of gigantic, deadly reptiles! We'll brave fallen melaleucas, dumped boats, abandoned rusting cars, and rotting couch cushions on the hunt for 20-foot, 150 pound Northern African Beer Pythons. (Well, the beer part is true.)
Erections from the North: Take the Turnpike South. Take Exit 25A-27 and follow the signs to the SW 8th Street exit. Go West approximately 4 miles. When you get to the last bit of suburban sprawl, turn south on SW 157th Ave. Go two miles, then turn west on Bird Road. In less than half a mile, on the north side of the street, you'll see a driveway into an electrical substation. Don't drive into the substation but park in the dirt area just off Bird Road near the Screaming Hashers.
From Miami: Take the Dolphin west west west until it ends at 137th Ave. Go south on 137th Ave about 3 miles to Bird Road. Go west on Bird a little over two miles. After you pass SW 157th Ave, look on the north side of the street for a driveway into an electrical substation. Park in the dirt area just off Bird Road near the Screaming Hashers.
Hares recommend "high socks," insect repellent, a folding chair, and a change of clothing.
On on!
